2013 Already

The judges for the 2013 Man Booker Prize have been announced. (Yes, already.)

They will be chaired by Robert Macfarlane, a Fellow in English at Cambridge University and author of The Wild Places; The Old Ways: A Journey On Foot; and Mountains of the Mind: A History of a Fascination (winner of The Guardian First Book Award).

He will be joined by biographer and academic Robert Douglas-Fairhurst (author of Becoming Dickens: The Invention of a Novelist); Stuart Kelly (former literary editor of Scotland on Sunday and author of The Book Of Lost Books: An Incomplete Guide To All The Books You'll Never Read); the broadcaster Martha Kearney (whose credits include The World at One and Woman's Hour on BBC Radio 4 and Newsnight/The Review Show on BBC2); and regular Review Show panellist, stand-up comedian and author of The Ancient Guide to Modern Life: Natalie Haynes.

"Natalie is a woman who talks about genocide, meningitis, plastic surgery, spiders, virgins and 'soggy biscuit'. Nothing's sacred and if it is, she's probably shagged it" according to comedycv.co.uk.

They will announce their longlist on July 23rd, their shortlist on September 10th, and bestow the £50,000 prize on their chosen winner at The Guildhall London, on October 15th, 2013.
